The Raw Mountain Wedding & The Regal Bride "Yami Gautam"

There ain’t any force in the world that can stop the union of two loving souls, no matter what. While the pandemic gave us waves of lockdown glooms, the celebrity weddings and their resplendent pictures were the bits of happiness that lifted up our spirits. And this time, it's the gorgeous star couple Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar who surprised with their not-so-ordinary pahadi wedding.

Weddings are made in heaven with only cheers, vibrant hues and everything bright. The newly wed couple in the town, actress Yami Gautam and writer, director and lyricist Aditya Dhar joined the bandwagon of stars who tied the knot during these challenging times but stood out from the rest keeping their best day of life subtle, simple yet elegant and fun. While celebrity weddings are all filled with expensive decorations, out of the box theme based settings and filmy vibes, Yami and Aditya’s marriage was a fresh vision of everything real and raw. Making sure the whole point of the wedding is each other's happiness and joy of family coming together in celebrating life, the couple’s wedding was one of a kind.

The surprise love story

Most of us may recall Yami as the ‘Fair and Lovely’ girl who won our hearts with her flawless beauty. From television ads, TV serials to Bollywood, her career climbed the ladder giving Yami the girl-next-door tag in the industry. Little did she know that she will meet her better half from the professional field she has embraced. Yami Gautam starred in Aditya Dhar’s URI: The Surgical Strike which became one of the highest-grossing movies of that year and also is where the love sparked in these two. Though no one from the set could put a finger on it, the close friends soon started brewing romance into their lives away from the eyes of paparazzi, fans and the rest of the Bollywood circle. Their three-year-old connection has stayed strong from day 1 and their wedding announcement was a happy surprise.

The pahadi wedding

Keeping it traditional and elegant, the wedding took place at Yami’s farmhouse in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and the mehndi ceremony was held in the courtyard. The intimate ceremony had only close family members from both sides of the family and took over two days. The wedding planner Gitesh Sharma was contacted just a day prior and the family pandits from Bilaspur/ Hamirpur graced their presence for the rituals. The small outdoor wedding lacked not a thing and unlike most Bollywood glamorous weddings had a touch of soft innocence and pristine beauty in every picture Yami shared on her social media platforms. The love birds tied the knot on June 4th in front of a deodar tree in their traditional way. The gold-and-white themed mandap beautifully decorated with marigold flowers and banana leaves rang the wedding bells in subtle elegance.

The Banarasi heirloom saree

Red saris and marriages are a match made in heaven. While the speculations around Yami’s gorgeous royal red silk saree found its spotlight with netizens guessing ace designers names and reputed brands, Yami surprised yet again wearing her mother’s thirty-three-year-old traditional Banarasi brocade saree. She matched it with a red blouse featuring embroidered gold floral motifs and teamed it with a red dupatta that was gifted to her by her maternal grandmother to complete her ethnic style. While most women think wedding wear is all about the glitz and glam with boastful brand names, Yami put a seed of thought in us by picking something close to her heart and meaningful to wear and shine on her big day. Aditya complemented her bridal look in a classic ivory sherwani topped off with muted gold work.

Self- done bridal makeup

Every woman wants to look her best on her wedding day. Sometimes choosing the best makeup artist to amp up your beauty can be a tedious task that could take weeks to fix and book one. But Yami trusted her skill and did her own bridal makeup and we can’t stop gushing over it. She found aid in kohl-rimmed eyes and brown smokey eye makeup and a palette that matched with the shades of her sari to bring that bridal glow on. A regal gold choker set, maang tikka, kalire and spotlight winning traditional chooda bangles made her heavy-duty accessory department grand and luxe.

A wedding like no other

Giving us the pahadi bride vibes, Yami and Aditya's wedding promised a life together of happiness and health in the backdrop of mountains and lush green nature, bringing us back to digging the whole meaning of what exactly a wedding should be like. It’s okay if you want your big day to be a grand and glorious event, and it’s okay if you just want it to be a simple celebration with you and yours. While we have many idols to be inspired from, be it amidst the clouds in an aeroplane or in-tune with the nature surrounded by hills and mountains or in a royal palace with mammoths and horses, make sure you smile the fullest and fill each other's hearts with pure love like Yami and Aditya on their wedding.

Love, Team She
